Patrick Henry 8th grade social studies classes had a special visitor! 👮♂️ Our School Resource Officer joined students for a Q&A and meaningful discussion about the Bill of Rights, helping bring these important freedoms to life through real-world examples and thoughtful conversation. Students’ favorite part of the visit was getting to try on the SRO’s vest! Thank you, Officer Ragland, for taking the time to connect with our students and support their learning!

Friday, January 23, 2026, will be a Remote Learning Day in the Sioux Falls School District!
iPads and Chromebooks were sent home with each student earlier today. We will not have in-person learning in the schools, but students are expected to connect to their Canvas account from home for assignments and learning resources. They have practiced this at school and know what is expected of them.

Hands-on learning took engineering to the fast lane! 🛠️🏁 Our 7th and 8th grade CTE students designed and built their own wooden dragsters by shaping, sanding, and assembling blocks of wood into race cars built for speed and stability. Along the way, students thought like real engineers—balancing weight, aerodynamics, alignment, and problem-solving to achieve the best performance. When it was time to race, the dragsters hit a 70-foot track powered by CO₂ cartridges—no batteries or motors needed! The burst of compressed gas sent each car flying down the ramp in just seconds. 6th Grade CTE students completed a similar project with foam dragsters and raced them down the ramp! This project gave students a real-world look at engineering, teamwork, and innovation, and we loved seeing learning come to life. Great work, Panthers! 💙💛
We hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend as we honored Martin Luther King Jr. Day yesterday. Looking ahead to this week at PHMS, there are no athletic events scheduled as our boys basketball and wrestling teams focus on practice and preparation. We are excited to host the Pops Concert and look forward to showcasing the hard work and talent of our student musicians. Our 8th grade students and families have the opportunity to attend local high school registration meetings as they begin planning for the next step in their academic journey. It’s shaping up to be a great week - stay warm!! 💙💛
🎶 We have another big announcement to share! 🎶 Congratulations to the Patrick Henry students who were selected for All-State Band! This year, 38 students qualified — what an incredible accomplishment!
Students earned placements in All-State Honors Band and Festival Band, which reflects their hard work, talent, and dedication throughout the audition process. We are so proud of our Patrick Henry Band Program and the commitment shown by both our students and instructors. Well done to all!👏

Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his powerful reminder that impact comes from everyday actions. “If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.” At our school, we see this lived out daily—through kindness, respect, service, and standing up for one another. Even small actions can make a meaningful difference in our classrooms, our community, and our world.
🏀💙 What a season it was for our 7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball teams! 💙🏀 All teams showed tremendous improvement in skills, confidence, teamwork, and—most importantly—attitude throughout the season. 🙌 They supported one another through challenges, competed with heart and effort, and represented our school with sportsmanship every time they stepped on the court. 👏🐾These qualities matter far beyond basketball and will stay with them in the classroom, daily life, and any future sport they pursue. A huge thank you to Coach Cunningham, Coach Witt, Coach Easter, Coach Palomaki, and our athletes for a fun and memorable 2025–26 Girls Basketball Season! 🎉🏀💙

Ready to move, groove, and perform? Dance begins Tuesday, January 20th, and we’re excited to welcome new dancers of all experience levels! Dancers will learn hip hop, pom, and jazz while building confidence, teamwork, and performance skills. Performances include basketball games and an end-of-year district showcase.
